Sonshine Learning Center


At the Sonshine Learning Center, our goal is to meet the needs of the whole child—enhancing self-esteem, encouraging emotional, spiritual, physical, social and intellectual development. We look forward to sharing in your children's lives as they explore, experience and learn about the world around them.


Fees Effective August 2011 - June 2012

  • A non-refundable one time registration fee of $90.00 ($140.00 for a family if registering together) is needed in advance to hold a spot. If a child withdraws from the program and then returns, another $90.00 fee will be charged to hold the child's spot for up to 3 months (except infant room ~ will hold for longer).
  • A non-refundable supply fee of $90.00 will be charged for all Toddler and Preschool classes.
  • A non-refundable supply fee of $90.00 will be charged yearly (September) upon re-enrollment for all toddler and preschool children. (Waived if original supply fee was paid within the last 90 days.)
  • Tuition is charged once a week. If there is no payment by 10:00am Friday, a late fee of $10.00 will be applied. If your account falls behind, it may jeopardize your child's spot. Checks returned NSF, will be charged a $25.00 fee.
  • Sonshine Learning Center is open Monday-Friday 6:30a.m.-6:00p.m. Drop off deadline is 10:00 am for all the rooms (with exception of the infant room). This is to ensure that your child receives as much of the program activities as we offer and to discourage children arriving at naptime and disrupting their friends who are asleep. If you will be arriving late, due to an appointment, please notify your teacher or the SLC office. Late charges apply if a child is picked up after 6:00 p.m. A penalty of $2.00 a minute for the first fifteen minutes and a $1.00 per minute thereafter will be charged. There is no grace period.
  • A sibling discount of 10% will be applied to families who are enrolled full time (5 days) a week. The discount will be applied to the older child.
  • Sonshine Learning Center requires a written notice of with drawl of at least two weeks in advance. If proper notification is not received, the normal rate of care will apply during this time.
  • Immunization status of children needs to remain current. If your child is not up to date, SLC has a right to refuse care if the immunizations are not current.
  • In the event of an emergency, Sonshine Learning Center will contact the parent. If we are unable to reach one of the parents, we will contact the people on your emergency contact list. Parents are responsible for updating information so SLC will be able to contact you promptly. Please keep this information current.
  • Weekly tuition remains the same each week regardless of absence, illness, school closure, legal holidays and unforeseen circumstances. SLC will be closed the following days and scheduled teacher in-service days.

    Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, The day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve or New Years Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, ~ and Two teacher in-services (dates TBA) In addition we will be closing at 4:00 on the day before Thanksgiving, The day before Christmas Eve, Good Friday and the day of the RCS Annual Auction, March 9, 2012.
  • Vacation allowance is offered to families that have been in attendance for 90 days and account is in good standing. After that time period, a full week vacation is used for the first week with 100% credit and a full week vacation is used for the second week with 50% credit. Vacation allowances are allowed from September - August.
  • Washington State law defines a child's stay at a Center as 8 hours or less plus travel time to and from work (maximum 10 hours). This is also SLC policy and children will need to be picked up before the 10 hour mark.
  • Sonshine Learning Center's Heath Care Policy is located on the info board in a blue binder, Disaster Policy in a black binder, Pesticide Policy in a green binder and the Parent Handbook in the yellow binder. Please read all four books and ask any questions that you might have before signing this form.
