Erik Konsmo
Head of School
Erik has served as the Head of School since fall of 2006. His formal graduate education includes two master’s degrees (Biblical Studies and Biblical Languages) and a Ph.D. from Fuller Theological Seminary (Theology). He occasionally teaches as an adjunct professor at Northwest University and holds ministerial credentials with the Northwest Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God. He has been married for 12 years to his wife Tammie and has two children, Emma (4) and Andrew (2). He has dedicated his life to Christian education and has been involved with it at the elementary, middle school and university levels. One of his mottos of leadership that has impacted him recently was coined by Rick Warren and states, “Leadership is stewardship and not ownership.” He seeks to apply that principle as he guides the people and financial resources God has provided for Renton Christian School. Cheri Schoenrock
Elementary Principal
Cheri Schoenrock is an Elementary and Christian Education Graduate from Northwest College (University). She received both bachelor’s degrees in 1985. Since that time she has earned her Masters in Education from Seattle Pacific University in 1989 (Curriculum and Instruction-Learning Styles Emphasis) and 1998 (All-Levels School Principal Certificate). For seventeen years she was a classroom teacher in grade levels K-8, eight of them at Renton Christian School, where she has proven to be a reliable and dedicated teacher and minister to children and staff. For the past five and a-half years, she has been the RCS Elementary Principal, providing strong leadership and training for our staff. Julie Schmitke
Junior High Principal
Julie Schmitke has served RCS for the past six years in a number of capacities including sixth grade teacher, music director, and as intern principal. Her education includes a Masters in Educational Leadership from Seattle Pacific University, her Washington State teacher and principal certificates, and a B.A. in Communications from Western Washington University. She enjoys teaching students and seeing them surprise themselves with their accomplishments. There’s nothing that she desires to do more than being in education. Mary Cunningham
Director of Childcare Services
Mary Cunningham attended Northwest Bible College for Early Childhood Education. She worked for the Learning Center for 2 years as teacher for the 4 year old preschool class before becoming the Director. As the Director of the Learning Center, she enjoys the “business side” of the job but still loves interaction with the kids and you may often find her sitting in a classroom coloring with the children! Maggie Johnson
Assistant Director, Sonshine Learning Center
Maggie Johnson has worked for SLC for the past 5 years. She has worked in the Early Childhood profession for the past 17 years. She believes that all children deserve a loving and safe place to grow and learn. She enjoys spending time with the children in the classrooms as well as getting to know the families. Her hobbies include: reading, taking hikes, music and baking. Her favorite thing to do is to spend time with her family. Maggie is married with two children. Anabel Anderson
Assistant Director, Before and After School Care
Anabel Anderson started her career in RCS as a Toddler Teacher with Sonshine Learning Center in 2001. She finds joy in being able to share Christ with children and helping them build a strong Christian foundation. In 2007 she was promoted to Assistant Director for the Before and After School Care Program in RCS.
