Parents/Guardians/Students,

August/September 2023,

Welcome to Renton Christian School for school year 2023-2024.  It is my pleasure to serve as principal of RCS.  This is going to be an incredible year.

As we launch the 23-24 school year, I want to remind each of you that God has placed you on this path as a family of RCS and we are committed to journeying with you.  We are all about Jesus.  This will be a year of growth and learning.  Our leadership team has chosen the theme of the year to be “Honor God and Love People”. 1 John 4:7-8 tells us that love comes from God, and we can love because we know Him.  This year we will focus on what it is to love like Jesus.

The Mission of Renton Christian School is: Teach Academics from a Biblical Worldview, in a Christ centered environment in order to disciple and evangelize to students.

RCS Core Values are:

Teach from a Biblical Worldview:  The basis for all school curriculums will be the Bible, which will be integrated into the activities in the classroom, stage, chapel, and athletic courts/fields. The Bible is God's inspired Word for humankind and is our primary source for wisdom, correction, knowledge, and training in righteousness. It equips students to live as God desires (2 Tim. 3:16-17).

You will find that in each classroom and within each subject area, the Bible is woven into instruction and learning.  RCS students understand that God cares about the world He created and learn that the Bible is the source of truth and grace to help us live the life God has planned for us.

Commitment to Academic Excellence: Each student will experience a rigorous academic atmosphere in which they will be encouraged and enabled to meet their highest potential. Luke 2:52 says that Jesus grew in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man. At RCS, we seek the same for each of our students. A student's education must be well-rounded and address the intellectual, physical, social, and spiritual aspects of life. It must be both Christian and academic.

When your child enters their classroom, they will be greeted by a teacher who prays for them and believes in them.  Our teachers champion each student individually and work diligently to create classroom communities that operate with respect and care.  Your child will be challenged academically and continually reminded that they can do hard things.  We have a deep-rooted belief that all RCS students can learn, and it is our mission to ensure that we meet the individual needs of all students.

Partnering with parents: We will establish a partnership of mutual respect and effort between teachers and parents that provides an optimal learning environment for students. Children are a gift from God (John 1:12-13) and created in God's image (Gen. 1:26). The family was instituted by God (Gen. 1:27Matt. 19:1-12Mark 10:1-12) for raising children to become responsible adults who promote the Christian values that will preserve and promote righteousness in our nation.

We are so thankful for our families.  We believe in the partnership and community we have with parents.  We know raising children can be challenging at times and we are committed to being a community that supports families.  We believe in family.  We know that strong families produce strong students.  We value keeping communication lines open and honest and we are always thankful for feedback whether it is constructive or complimentary.

Caring Christ centered community: RCS is a close-knit community in which teachers take the initiative to care for the academic, the spiritual, and even the personal aspects of their students' lives. We are a ministry of New Life Church and function as an extension of the local churches our families choose to attend. Our desire is to fulfill the Great Commission of Jesus (Matt. 28:18-20) and to help the church to guide children to submit to God's will in faithful obedience (Prov. 22:6)

We do life together.  Renton Christian is more than a school.  We are a family.  We want both students and parents to meet lifelong friends throughout this year.  We encourage connection, which you will see by our events and family nights.  You are a huge part of our community, and we are thankful for you.  As we start the 23-24 school year, I want you to know my door is always open.  I am thankful to serve each of you as we start what will be the best school year ever.

Sincerely,

Lisa Hopp
