I had the privilege of presenting last week's chapel message to students. It was an honor to share something that's been on my heart since October. For chapel, I read Max Lucado's book "You are Special." It is the introduction to the Wemmicks who are people that put grey dots and gold stars on each other. You can see where the story is going...

The main point of my message was the theological principle of "imago dei" from Genesis 1:27. We are created in the image of God. Students at this age are struggling with three key questions: Who am I? Why am I here? and How do things work? These are all questions of identity at a critical age when students are searching for their identity. I am excited to report that we can answer these questions using Genesis 1:27 and other Scripture.

I ended my message by reading C.S. Lewis's "Weight of Glory." It's one of my favorite writings by this author as Lewis pushes as to talk to each other as though we honestly believe that we are immortal beings created in the image of God. #choosekind

I was able to follow up with students today with a special surprise of which I am sure they will share their excitement with you... See below.

2018 Spring Break Missions Trip for Junior High
Team meeting tonight, 12/7! Mrs. Robey has contacted team members, and we have a great group going this year!
Field Trips Next Wednesday, 12/13
Next Wednesday, 12/13, 6th - 8th grades will be off campus on field trips.

Sixth and 7th grades will attend a private screening of the movie "Wonder" at the Regal Cinemas at The Landing.

Eighth grade will go to the University of Washington's Chemistry Lab and experience science like they have never seen it before.

Permission slips for both field trips will be coming out in the next couple of days.
Progress Reports Next Week
Progress reports will be sent via email next week. Please check your child's grades in RenWeb in the meantime. Seventh and 8th graders can check their own grades as well following the directions below.

Students will need to log in to ParentsWeb (same as you) using their own credentials to check grades. They need to click on the "student" button when they do. They do not have access to financial information which is only accessible to parents. RW is working on future grade integration within the LMS so that students don't have to log in to two different sites.
Technology Update for Sixth Grade

It is a goal to get sixth graders access to the RW LMS and O365 platforms in the near future. Due to time constraints, this won't happen before Christmas break and is scheduled to happen in January.

Thank you for working with us on this transition which has already occurred for 7th and 8th grades. It has been beneficial to both teachers and students to have access to technology in the classroom for research, class discussion boards, and retrieval of lost handouts.
