Elementary Chapel

My name is Blake Smith, and I am Children’s Pastor for RCS. If we haven’t met yet, I would like to start by saying that I’m blessed to partner with you to see your student grow in their faith. This takes many forms but my favorite, and likely your kiddo’s too, is our Thursday CHAPEL!

Our students are valuable and they deserve a space to worship and learn about the God that gives them this great value. Chapel is an engaging, fun, and impactful environment where all RCS students get to dive into the Bible and the life of Jesus. It’s a weekly opportunity to encourage, love, and disciple our students and I want to open the door for you to join in that conversation!

To help with all of that, something you will see often is our Chapel Curriculum called 252 Basics. This curriculum provides resources for students, teachers, and parents alike to get involved with chapel, our faith, and each other by focusing on a Biblical word or “Virtue”. The monthly Virtue and Bible Verse help lead us to weekly “Bottom Line” focus points, and examples of how this virtue points us toward Jesus Christ.

September’s Virtue:

Uniqueness – Discovering who God made you to be so You can make a difference.

September’s Verse:

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10

Why Chapel?

Our students are valuable and they deserve a space to worship and learn about the amazing God that gives them this great value. Chapel is an engaging, fun, and impactful environment where all RCS students get to dive into the Bible and the life of Jesus. It’s a weekly opportunity to encourage, love, and disciple our students and I want to open the door for you to join in that conversation! There are resources attached that help to encourage Godly moments between you and your student.

Don’t just join the conversation, JOIN US FOR CHAPEL! Parents and family are 100% welcome to attend chapel at either of the chapel times 8:45a for Kprep - 2nd and 9:45a for 3rd - 5th. Can't join us? No problem catch the live feed during any chapel time HERE

I look forward to joining every parent this year in leading and encouraging our students to follow Jesus every single day. If you join us for chapel, be sure to say hello!

Being able to connect with your students about what they have learned makes learning and growing tangible and exciting. Check out the below resources to see what new ways you can engage with your student(s) over the Biblical virtue of “Uniqueness

Each week we will make available, the God-time Card and the Parent Cue Monthly Overview for your family. These two resources, when used together, explain what we discussed in chapel that week. They allow you to join that faith-building conversation by providing ideas for organic, focused, and meaningful moments each day.

This week, we have have been learning about CREATIVITY and how God was creative when He made all of us. Today, Jordan was encouraged and challenged to not only see creativity as a gift from God, but also as a vehicle for showing God’s love to others! How could we use every day objects, sayings, and moments to show someone they are valuable and cared for by God, and by us?!

Check out Godtime Card for your student and the Parent Cue card for yourself below as they work together to show what God is saying through Scripture. I recommend doing at least Day 1 with Jordan and exploring the topic in ways that works for your family. Having intentional family moments focused on God is a desire I have for all RCS families, even my own!

SEW Theme of the week: Gadgets and Gizmos: Wonderfully Made & Uniquely Wired

Biblical Virtue: Creativity: imagining what you can do because you’re made in God’s image.

Bible Verse: Psalms 139:14

As you check out the Parent Cue letter for this week, you’ll see 4 weeks covered in this virtue as each “week” was assigned to a day of SEW. Our 5th day, tomorrow, is one like any other as students will be showcasing creativity that points to Jesu. This will be followed by a unique response time for our students to declare the Jesus is Lord of their lives and accept Him into their hearts. Praying for our students as they encounter the Holy Spirit tomorrow,

Seeing parents join us for chapel and sit with their students has been so encouraging. So please continue to JOIN US FOR CHAPEL TOMORROW (and every Thursday)
