Our school will have a new name beginning next school year (Sept. 2025). We will continue to be RCS. We will continue to keep Jesus at the center of all we do. Beginning next school year, we will be known as Redeemer Christian School.
Why are we changing our name?
Two years ago, when we announced the development of our new high school campus, we knew the word “Renton” would not apply as well in other communities. Our new high school campus will be located between Covington and Maple Valley near the new Lakepointe Urban Village development. We knew we needed a regional school name that would be more flexible than our current name. Also, when Rainier Christian School reached out to me about joining our school, we knew the conversation about changing our new name would be accelerated. As our schools come together and we continue developing our new High School campus, we will have a unified name and mission to guide our future.
Why Redeemer Christian?
We chose Redeemer Christian for two main reasons:
1) Everything we do is rooted in Christ. Jesus is our Redeemer. We will continue to keep Him at the center of who we are and what we do.
2) We are known as RCS. We want to remain RCS. Both Rainier Christian and Renton Christian have served our community as RCS and will continue to do so.
When will the school’s name change?
Our name will change for the 2025-2026 school year (September 2025). We will continue to be Rainier Christian for the remainder of this school year. You will begin seeing Redeemer Christian on reenrollment material after the first of this year in January.
What will our mascot and school colors be?
We will be the Eagles. We loved the imagery of Isaiah 40:31, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” We want our students to soar with the strength of the Lord. Our school colors will be navy, grey, and white.
As we go into the future, we will continue to create a warm, Christ-centered environment for every student at every campus. We will develop students who are rooted in Christ, equipped for their call, and who think through a Biblical Worldview. We are committed to keeping the main thing the main thing.
